The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hottur as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hottur smashed 9th ranked Hamar in Egilsstadir 119-63. The game without a history. Hottur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 21 Hamar turnovers and outrebounded them 55-26 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hottur looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Hamar's players. The best player for the winners was guard Adam Asgeirsson (193-98, college: John Brown) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish forward Juan Luis Navarro (196-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Hottur players scored in double figures. Hottur's coach Einar Johannsson felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Dee Franklin (196-92, college: FVSU) produced 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and naturalized Polish center Maciek Klimaszewski (205-95) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Hottur (13-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Hamar at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Hamar will play next round against Hrunamenn trying to get back on the winning streak. Hottur will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Haukar in Hafnarfjordur.
