Very expected game when 6th ranked Pontoise (10-10) was smashed by first ranked Etoile Angers (16-4) in Cergy 101-68 on Tuesday. Etoile Angers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Pontoise's 38. Etoile Angers forced 24 Pontoise turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Pontoise's players. The winners were led by American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-96, college: LSSU) who scored that evening 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Guyanese forward Youri Morose (202-97) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-98, college: NDSU) did not help to save the game for Pontoise. Forward Dylan Gana (202-92) added 11 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Etoile Angers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 16-4 record. Newly promoted Pontoise keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Vitre. Etoile Angers will meet at home La Rochelle (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pontoise will play against Les Sables in Les Sables-D'Ollone and hope to secure a win.
