Very predictable result when eighth ranked Tenerife (9-8) defeated on the road 17th ranked Burgos (4-14) 81-73 on Friday. Tenerife looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists. The former international Daniel Diez (203-93) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Jarell Eddie (201-91, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tenerife maintains eighth position with 9-8 record, which they share with Breogan. Burgos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 14 games lost. Tenerife will meet at home higher ranked Murcia (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Burgos will play against Gran Canaria (#11) and hope to secure a win.
