Regular Season Round 18: Hamar - Hrunamenn 80-101
Date: January 28, 2022
The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Hrunamenn's (6-11) road victory over 9th ranked Hamar (3-14) 101-80 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hrunamenn. Hamar managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hrunamenn looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Kent Hanson (198-97, college: Carleton) notched 31 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Croatian Karlo Lebo (196-94) supported him with 29 points and 8 rebounds. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Dee Franklin (196-92, college: FVSU) did not help to save the game for Hamar. Guard Bjorn Asgeirsson (184-0, college: Union, TN) added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hrunamenn maintains eighth position with 6-11 record. Hamar lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. Hrunamenn will meet league's leader Hottur in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hamar will play against the league's second-placed Haukar (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
