Regular Season Round 18: Vechta 2 - Westerstede 93-66

There was no surprise when 3rd ranked Westerstede (11-5) was crushed on the road by first ranked Vechta-2 (14-4) 93-66 on Saturday. Vechta-2 forced 24 Westerstede turnovers. Kevin Smit (183-91) scored 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and forward Noah Janen (196-4) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Vechta-2's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-98) with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Jerry Ndhine (198-2) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Vechta-2 have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North with 14-4 record. Loser Westerstede dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Vechta-2 will meet Bramsche (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Westerstede will play against Neustadt TSV (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
