Regular Season Round 21: Kupol-Rodniki - Uralmash 80-98

There was no surprise in Izhevsk where 11th ranked Kupol-Rodniki (6-14) was defeated by second ranked Uralmash (17-3) 98-80 on Sunday. Uralmash outrebounded Kupol-Rodniki 41-28 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Uralmash especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Uralmash made 7 blocks. Point guard Anton Glazunov (185-86) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 assists for the winners and the former international Aleksandr Zakharov (202-93) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Uralmash players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Maxim Procshenko (208-97) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Grigory Motovilov (193-98) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Uralmash have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-3 record having just one point less than leader Runa Basket. Kupol-Rodniki lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Ufimets Ufa and Dinamo V.. Uralmash will meet at home bottom-ranked Lok.Kuban (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kupol-Rodniki will play against Dinamo V. (#13) in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
