There was an upset when higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (9-10) lost on the road to sixteenth ranked Cholet Basket (7-12) 80-76 on Saturday. Cholet Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Chorale de Roanne's 26. Cholet Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American-Hungarian point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) who led the winners and scored 18 points. Power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-0) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Cholet Basket's coach Laurent Vila used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Eritrean-Canadian guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-92, college: Ottawa) came up with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Jakeenan Gant (203-96, college: La-Lafayette) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Chorale de Roanne in the defeat. Cholet Basket moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Chorale de Roanne keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Bourg. Cholet Basket will meet Paris (#13) on the road in the next round. Chorale de Roanne will play against Le Portel and hope to secure a win.
