Very predictable result when fourth ranked Kormend (13-8) won against 12th ranked PVSK-Veolia (6-14) in Pecs 84-80 on Saturday. Strangely PVSK-Veolia outrebounded Kormend 43-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. American point guard Kamau Stokes (183-95, college: Kansas St.) nailed 32 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Wesley Gordon (206-94, college: Colorado) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Stokes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kormend players scored in double figures. Kormend's coach Antonis Konstantinides used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) and naturalized Serbian forward Tomislav Ivosev (204-90, agency: 011 Sports) added 18 points respectively for PVSK-Veolia in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kormend. They maintain fourth place with 13-8 record. PVSK-Veolia lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Kormend will meet at home Alba (#7) in the next round. PVSK-Veolia will play against Kaposvari (#5) and hope to secure a win.
