Regular Season Round 21: Tenerife - Murcia 87-71

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Tenerife (10-8) beat at home 6th ranked Murcia (10-8) 87-71 on Sunday. Tenerife made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Tenerife players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Isaiah Taylor (190-94, college: Texas) with 27 points and Brazilian center Augusto Lima (210-91, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 9 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tenerife moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Murcia. Tenerife will meet higher ranked Joventut (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Murcia will play against the league's second-placed Barca and hope to secure a win.
