Regular Season Round 21: Oviedo - Girona 46-80

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Oviedo (10-10) was crushed at home by eleventh ranked Girona (10-10) 80-46 on Wednesday. Girona held Oviedo to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.3 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was center Jaume Sorolla (213-1997, college: Cincinnati) who scored 21 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Point guard Albert Sabat (181-1985) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Oliver Arteaga (208-1983) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Alonso Meana (180-2000, college: UIS) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Girona have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Oviedo. Oviedo lost sixth consecutive game. Girona will meet at home higher ranked Caceres (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oviedo will play against Almansa and hope to secure a win.
