Regular Season Round 16: Aistes-LSMU - TTT Riga 37-51

Everything went according to plan in Kaunas where top-ranked Latvian TTT Riga (17-0) beat 5th ranked Lithuanian Aistes-LSMU (9-9) 51-37 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when TTT Riga's pressure prevailed and they won that period 9-0 extending their advantage to 14 points. They held Aistes-LSMU to an opponent 19.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 29.6 percent accuracy of the winners. American point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-91, college: Michigan St.) fired 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. TTT Riga's coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Point guard Gedvile Savostaite (180-2) produced 4 points and 10 rebounds and Gintare Paulauskaite (185-95) added 4 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. TTT Riga have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Defending Latvian champion maintains first position with 17-0 record. Loser Aistes-LSMU keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. TTT Riga will meet at home Siauliu Siauliai (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Aistes-LSMU will play against TalTech and hope to secure a win.
