Regular Season Round 16: Thor Thorl - Keflavik 114-89

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Thor Thorl as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Thor Thorl smashed one of their biggest challengers Keflavik in Thorlakshofn 114-89. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Thor Thorl. Keflavik managed to win fourth quarter 32-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thor Thorl looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Keflavik's players. Spanish-Argentinian guard Luciano Massarelli (183-93) fired 32 points and 6 assists for the winners. Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Thor Thorl's coach Larus Jonsson felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Mustapha Heron (196-97, college: St.John's) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Darius Tarvydas (199-91) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Thor Thorl have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Keflavik lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. Keflavik will play next round against Thor AK trying to get back on the winning streak. Thor Thorl will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Breidablik in Kopavogur.
