Regular Season Round 18: Shumen - Cherno More 91-71
Date: February 12, 2022
Bottom-ranked Shumen managed to get a second victory, breaking the seven-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Shumen outleveled ninth-ranked Cherno More 91-71. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference proves that Shumen was well-prepared to that game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cherno More's 24. Shumen forced 20 Cherno More turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-90) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Viktor Serafimov (190-0) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Martin Kotsev (195-98, agency: BIG) with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Tsvetomir Kurtev (195-97) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Shumen and four Cherno More players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Shumen (2-15) moved-up to ninth place. Cherno More lost fourteenth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Shumen will meet at home higher ranked Yambol (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cherno More will play against Spartak Pleven and hope to win that game.
