There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Filippos Veroias (7-8) beat higher ranked Enosi Kavalas (9-6) in Veria 59-54 on Saturday. Serbian forward Miljan Drekalovic (202-91, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and forward Giorgos Garezos (198-95) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. Filippos Veroias' coach Christoforos Kourouzidis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Nigerian power forward Nikolaos Okekuoyen (212-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Konstantinos Abatzas (188-93) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for Enosi Kavalas in the defeat. Four Enosi Kavalas players scored in double figures. Filippos Veroias moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Panerythraikos. Loser Enosi Kavalas dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Filippos Veroias will again meet at home higher ranked Enosi Kavalas (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Enosi Kavalas will have a break next round.
