Second Stage Round 4: USK Praha - Opava 80-87
Date: February 12, 2022
Rather expected game when 5th ranked USK Praha (12-12) lost at home to second ranked Opava (18-7) 87-80 on Saturday. Opava dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to USK Praha's 28. They outrebounded USK Praha 34-23 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international point guard Jakub Sirina (186-87, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 22 points and 4 assists and Swedish center Mattias Markusson (220-96, college: LMU) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Opava players scored in double figures. Opava's coach Petr Czudek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by the former international forward Jan Sterba (197-95) did not help to save the game for USK Praha. American guard Kyle Mangas (193, college: IWU) added 24 points for lost side. Opava have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-7 record having just six point less than leader Nymburk. USK Praha lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Hradec Kralove. Opava will meet at home Hradec Kralove (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. USK Praha will play against Pardubice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
