Regular Season Round 24: Groningen - Leeuwarden 81-69

One of the most interesting games of round 24 was a derby match between two teams from Holland. Fourth ranked Groningen won against visiting Leeuwarden (9-10) 81-69. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden's 26. The winners were led by American-Italian guard Henry Caruso (194-1995, college: Santa Clara) who scored that evening 15 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Jimmy Gavin (191-1991, college: Winthrop) supported him with 14 points. Groningen's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 9 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Ryan Logan (200-1994, college: Stonehill) did not help to save the game for Leeuwarden. His fellow American import swingman Quin Cooper (197-1991, college: CRC, agency: One Motive Sports) added 19 points. Groningen maintains fourth position with 13-6 record. Leeuwarden at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Groningen will play against Den Helder (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Leeuwarden will play against the league's second-placed Leiden and hopes to get back on the winning track.
