Regular Season Round 7: Bashkimi - Tirana 114-89

Bottom-ranked Albanian Tirana (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Kosovan Bashkimi (4-3) 114-89 on Wednesday evening. Bashkimi dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to Tirana's 56. Bashkimi forced 22 Tirana turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American forward Monique Coker (188-1982, college: ODU) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Her fellow American import swingman D'Asia Chambers (182-1992, college: Slippery Rock) chipped in 26 points and 5 assists. Five Bashkimi players scored in double figures. Bashkimi's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Klea Verri (169-2001) produced 32 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Enisa Qosja (-1995) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Bashkimi maintains third place with 4-3 record behind leader Penza. Tirana lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Partizani. Bashkimi will meet Prishtina (#4) on the road in the next round. Tirana will play against the league's second-placed Flamurtari and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
