Very expected game when 13th ranked Khimki (6-16) was smashed at home by second ranked Uralmash (19-3) 100-67 on Thursday. Uralmash forced 27 Khimki turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American guard Justin Roberson (187-1993, college: ULM) nailed 28 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and point guard Anton Glazunov (185-1986) accounted for 12 points and 10 assists. Five Uralmash players scored in double figures. Kazakhstan forward Alexandr Zhigulin (205-1994) came up with 12 points and power forward Alexandr Kurbatov (208-1997) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Khimki in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Uralmash. They maintain second place with 19-3 record having just three points less than leader Runa Basket. Loser Khimki keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Uralmash will meet at home Novosybirsk (#6) in the next round. Khimki will play against Dinamo V. (#11) in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
