Regular Season Round 18: Gent Hawks - LDP Donza 83-88

No shocking result in a game when third ranked LDP Donza (9-5) beat on the road 11th ranked Gent Hawks (4-9) 88-83 on Saturday. LDP Donza dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Gent Hawks' 28. Center Rik Van den Berghe (206-1993) notched 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Niels Lataire (185-1990) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five LDP Donza players scored in double figures. LDP Donza's coach Kenneth Desloovere used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 43 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds by power forward Joren Vermoesen (201-1993) did not help to save the game for Gent Hawks. Sami Demirtas (190-1996) added 14 points. LDP Donza maintains third position with 9-5 record behind leader Oxaco, which they share with Melsele. Gent Hawks lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. LDP Donza will meet at home Kontich (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Gent Hawks will play against Melsele and hope to secure a win.
