No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Faenza (4-13) beat at home bottom-ranked Empoli (1-17) 76-70 on Saturday. Faenza dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Empoli's 28 and had 23 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Empoli only scored six points from the stripe. The winners were led by Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and American guard Jori Davis (176-1989, college: Indiana) supported her with 17 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Faenza's coach Diego Sguaizer used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Polish forward Amalia Rembiszewska (191-1996) did not help to save the game for Empoli. American forward Zada Williams (188-1996, college: Florida) added 8 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Newly promoted Faenza maintains eleventh position with 4-13 record, which they share with Moncalieri. Empoli lost thirteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Faenza will meet higher ranked Bologna (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
