Very predictable result when fourth ranked Samara (14-9) smashed at home 13th ranked Khimki (6-17) 93-58 on Sunday. They outrebounded Khimki 38-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Samara shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Khimki's players. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Artjoms Butjankovs (204-1991) who scored 18 points. Power forward Evgeny Fidiy (208-1991) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Samara players scored in double figures. Power forward Alexandr Kurbatov (208-1997) produced 12 points and forward Artem Vostrikov (204-1996) added 11 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samara have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-9 record. Loser Khimki keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Samara will meet MBA Moscow (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Khimki will play against Dinamo V. (#11) in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
