There was no surprise in Sofia where 12th ranked Slavia (1-14) was crushed by eighth ranked Polytechnica (6-8) 100-61 on Monday. Polytechnica dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Slavia's 36. They outrebounded Slavia 47-29 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Polytechnica looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Slavia's players. It was a great evening for guard Nikola-Aleksandar Zhekov (190-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Point guard Lachezar Vezirski (184-2000) helped adding 8 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Rumen Yanakiev (188-1999) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Viktor Mitev (-2004) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polytechnica maintains eighth place in A with 6-8 record. Loser Slavia keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
