Regular Season Round 36: Avtodor-2 - CSKA Junior 80-85
Date: February 24, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Saratov where 10th ranked Avtodor-2 (11-25) was defeated by fifth ranked CSKA Junior (23-13) 85-80 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-80. CSKA Junior outrebounded Avtodor-2 50-26 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Daniil Kirilyuk (204-2003) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Bulgarian guard Yaroslav Nikonov (195-2004) who added 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Vytalius Pranauskis (193-2002) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and guard Daniil Ginko (187-2004) scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser Avtodor-2 keeps the tenth position with 25 games lost. CSKA Junior will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Avtodor-2 will play again against CSKA Junior (#4) and hope to secure a win.
