Regular Season Round 22: Wusterhausen - Westerstede 84-63

There was a surprise result in Wildau where ninth ranked WSG Koenigs (9-12) smashed higher ranked Westerstede (11-8) 84-63 on Saturday. WSG Koenigs made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Westerstede turnovers and outrebounded them 42-21 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Oliver Mackeldanz (211-1990) fired a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) for the winners. American Andrew Jones (191-1983, college: Miles) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-1998) produced 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Serbian Jovan Savic (202-2002) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Five Westerstede players scored in double figures. WSG Koenigs moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Berlin BG 2000. Westerstede lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. WSG Koenigs will meet Bramsche (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Westerstede will play against Cuxhaven (#13) and hope to secure a win.
