Regular Season Round 19: Gent Hawks - Melsele 78-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Melsele (10-6) against eleventh ranked Gent Hawks (5-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Melsele was defeated by Gent Hawks in a tough game in Gent 74-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Melsele. Gent Hawks made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Joren Vermoesen (201-1993) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Joeri Vermoesen (200-1993) accounted for 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Swingman Mitchel Gorremans (191-1985) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Jens Bouckaert (-1991) added 20 points respectively for Melsele in the defeat. Four Melsele players scored in double figures. Gent Hawks moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Gembo BBC. Melsele at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Lommel. Gent Hawks will play against higher ranked Limburg B (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melsele will play against the league's leader LDP Donza having rather not much hope for a victory.
