Regular Season Round 19: Raholan P. - PuHu Juniorit 90-98

An interesting game was played in Tampere where PuHu Juniorit (#1) beat host Raholan P. (#3) 98-90 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in 1st Division. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But Raholan P. won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Raholan P. outrebounded PuHu Juniorit 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Tony Rautiainen (194-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Ville Karhu (181-2004) helped adding 22 points and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Olli Kanerva (198-1996) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Bulgarian guard Angel Mavrodiev (183-1991) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four PuHu Juniorit and five Raholan P. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. PuHu Juniorit maintains first place in 1st Division with 8-3 record. Raholan P. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. PuHu Juniorit will meet JyWe (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Raholan P.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tampere Pyrinto Ak.B.
