There was an upset when 3rd placed Alcala (14-9) lost on the road to eighth ranked Guadalajara (10-10) 77-72 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Venezuelan power forward Luis Valera (202-1988, college: UTRGV) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Hungarian point guard Kristof Horvath (190-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Forward Carlos Unanue (193-2000) came up with 28 points and forward Carlos Garcia (200-1989) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Alcala in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guadalajara maintains eighth place in Group B with 10-10 record. Loser Alcala keeps the third position with nine games lost. Guadalajara will meet higher ranked Alcobendas (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alcala will play against Estudiantes B and hope to secure a win.
