There was an upset when higher ranked Cornella (10-10) was edged on the road by eleventh ranked Alginet (7-11) 63-60 on Sunday. Alginet outrebounded Cornella 42-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Rokas Gadiliauskas (211-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds. Power forward Javier Nicolau (208-1997, college: UMC) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Jose Alberto Jimenez (197-1996) produced 9 points and 7 rebounds and center Eduard Arques (202-1994) added 8 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Alginet moved-up to tenth place in Silver. Loser Cornella dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Alginet will meet higher ranked Cartagena (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cornella will play against Gran Canaria 2 and hope to secure a win.
