The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked RheinStars Koeln's (3-12) home loss to fourth ranked OrangeAcademy (9-6) 55-99 on Sunday. OrangeAcademy dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to RheinStars Koeln's 32. They outrebounded RheinStars Koeln 49-30 including a 37-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. OrangeAcademy looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by RheinStars Koeln's players. Center Kevin Kaiser (192-2004) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and center Eric Reibe (201-2006) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds. OrangeAcademy's coach Chris Ensminger felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. David Trierscheidt (197-2003) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Maik-Gerrit Taha (188-2004) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. OrangeAcademy maintains fourth place in West with 9-6 record. RheinStars Koeln lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. OrangeAcademy will meet at home Trier YG (#6) in the next round. RheinStars Koeln will play against Jahn Muenchen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
