There was no surprise when 6th ranked Dresden (2-11) was defeated at home by second ranked Goettingen (9-5) 83-70 on Sunday. Christopher Schultz (194-2003) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and Joris Herbst (193-2003) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Goettingen's coach Venelin Berov used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Ludwig Hassler (202-2005) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Julius Bade (200-2004) scored 21 points. Goettingen maintains second place in East with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Ludwigsburg BBA. Loser Dresden keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Goettingen will meet at home Heroes (#5) in the next round. Dresden will play against Braunschweig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
