Regular Season Round 24: Haukar - Hamar 91-59

D1 top team - Haukar (22-2) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Hamar (4-19) in Hafnarfjordur 91-59. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game, while Hamar only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Hamar 54-31 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Hamar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Dutch center Deion Bute (206-1995, college: CCSU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Haukar's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Bjorn Asgeirsson (184-2000, college: Union, TN) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Dadi Gretarsson (185-1991) added 2 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Hamar. Haukar have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-2 record. Hamar at the other side keeps the ninth place with 19 games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face Alftanes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hamar will play against Fjolnir (#5) in Reykjavik and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
