Regular Season Round 24: Dzukija - Zalgiris 63-74

LKL top team - Zalgiris (21-1) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat seventh ranked Dzukija (8-13) in Alytus 74-63. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Dzukija's 22. They outrebounded Dzukija 42-27 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-1994) who scored 15 points and 5 assists. The former international Paulius Jankunas (205-1984) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian Aleksandar Aranitovic (195-1998) who recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-1979) added 12 points respectively. Five Dzukija players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zalgiris have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-1 record. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home Jonava (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Dzukija will play against Siauliai and hope to secure a win.
