Regular Season Round 21: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Le Portel 75-70

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Le Portel (7-14) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (12-9) 75-70 on Monday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pau-Lacq-Orthez made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-1991, college: MSU Denver) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 assists for the winners and Slovenian Gregor Hrovat (196-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 12 points. The best for the losing side was naturalized Polish forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (200-1992) with 15 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and naturalized Algerian guard Nadir Hifi (190-2002) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pau-Lacq-Orthez moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Strasbourg. Le Portel at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Chalons-Reims and Paris. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will meet Chalons-Reims (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Le Portel will play against Limoges CSP Elite and hope to secure a win.
