Regular Season Round 24: Bamberg - Oldenburg 83-106
Date: March 8, 2022
We should mention about the upset which took place in Bamberg, where higher ranked Brose Bamberg (9-13) was outleveled at home by seventeenth ranked EWE Baskets (6-17) 106-83 on Tuesday. EWE Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Israeli-American guard Max Heidegger (191-1997, college: UCSB) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 9 assists and American point guard Phil Pressey (180-1991, college: Missouri) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was international power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-1995, college: Boise St.) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Czech Tomas Kyzlink (198-1993) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser Brose Bamberg keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. EWE Baskets will meet at home higher ranked Chemnitz (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Brose Bamberg will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#5) and hope to secure a win.
