Regular Season Round 14: Bourg - Valencia 77-88

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Spanish Valencia (10-4) beat on the road 8th ranked French JL Bourg (5-9) 88-77 on Tuesday. They outrebounded JL Bourg 35-17 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valencia shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Slovenian Klemen Prepelic (191-1992) who scored 18 points. American-Slovenian center Mike Tobey (213-1994, college: Virginia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American guard Rasheed Sulaimon (193-1994, college: Maryland) produced 17 points and 6 assists and point guard Axel Julien (182-1992) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valencia used an opportunity after Gran Canaria lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser JL Bourg keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Valencia will meet at home Venezia (#5) in the next round. JL Bourg will play against Bursaspor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
