Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Hagen BG and 12th ranked Hagen-Haspe had identical 9-13 record. This time Hagen BG used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Hagen 94-87 on Friday night. Hagen BG made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Hagen-Haspe turnovers. The winners were led by Bulgarian Milen Zahariev (190-1992) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-1987) supported him with 30 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists by American power forward Daniel Westbrook (208-1995, college: Barton, NC) did not help to save the game for Hagen-Haspe. Vincent Hofmann (209-2001) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hagen-Haspe players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hagen BG (10-13) moved-up to tenth place in West. Newly promoted Hagen-Haspe keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Hagen BG will meet higher ranked Bonn 2 (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hagen-Haspe will play against ETB Miners (#9) and hope to secure a win.
