Regular Season Round 24: Selfoss - Haukar 77-104

D1 top team - Haukar (22-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Selfoss (10-13) 104-77. It looked good early as Selfoss took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Haukar took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 27 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Selfoss' 26. Haukar forced 19 Selfoss turnovers and outrebounded them 42-19 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and Dutch center Deion Bute (206-1995, college: CCSU) who added 12 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Slovenian forward Gasper Rojko (200-1996) with 28 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Trevon Evans (183-1995, college: Sioux Falls) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 assists. Haukar have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-2 record. Selfoss lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Haukar will play against Alftanes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Selfoss will play against Hrunamenn in Fludir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
