Regular Season Round 24: Torrent - Jairis 74-89

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Torrent (0-7) was defeated at home by third ranked Jairis (5-2) 89-74 on Saturday. Jairis forced 24 Torrent turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Juan Ballesta (185-1992) who scored 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Guard Jordi Bergada (188-1999) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. Four Jairis players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Pedro Bustamante (184-2001) who recorded 20 points and 5 steals and forward Carlos Garcia (190-2000) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jairis keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Torrent still closes the standings with seven games lost. Jairis will meet Picken Claret (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Torrent will play against Paterna and hopes to get finally their first victory.
