There was a surprise result in Santiago de Compostela where fifteenth ranked Obradoiro (8-15) won against higher ranked Baskonia (12-10) 81-76 on Sunday. Strangely Baskonia outrebounded Obradoiro 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian guard Laurynas Beliauskas (192-1997) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and American center Henry Ellenson (208-1997, college: Marquette) who added 19 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Wade Baldwin IV (193-1996, college: Vanderbilt) with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Ivorian power forward Matt Costello (208-1993, college: Michigan St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Baskonia's coach Neven Spahija tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Obradoiro moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Baskonia dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Obradoiro will meet at home Unicaja (#14) in the next round. Baskonia will play against the league's leader Barca (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
