Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked E.Ashkelon (11-13) beat on the road 14th ranked M.Ashdod (6-17) 79-68 on Sunday. They outrebounded M.Ashdod 48-29 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. E.Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American Storm Warren (211-1988, college: LSU) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Mark Lyons (185-1989, college: Arizona) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. Four E.Ashkelon players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Cuban swingman Yunio Barrueta (196-1993, college: Barry, agency: BIG) who recorded 21 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Raviv Pitshon (198-1989) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively. E.Ashkelon moved-up to ninth place, which they share with M.Raanana. Loser M.Ashdod keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. E.Ashkelon will meet at home league's leader I.Nahariya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. M.Ashdod will play against M.Hod Hasharon (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
