Regular Season Round 25: Juventus - Neptunas 82-79

The most exciting game of round 25 in the LKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Neptunas (8-13) to fifth ranked Juventus (11-10) 82-79 on Monday evening. Juventus forced 19 Neptunas turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Neptunas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-1988) fired 14 points for the winners. Power forward Rokas Gustys (206-1994, college: Hofstra) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Juventus' coach Zydrunas Urbonas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Benas Griciunas (210-1994, college: EWU) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Edgaras Zelionis (207-1989) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Juventus maintains fifth place with 11-10 record. Neptunas at the other side keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Dzukija. Juventus are looking forward to face higher ranked Lietkabelis (#3) in Panevezys in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neptunas will play on the road against Siauliai (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
