Rather predictable result when Lorient (6-5) smashed at home Lyon (4-7) 95-61 on Friday. Lorient shot 24 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Lyon only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Lyon 38-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Lorient looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Mali forward Ibrahim Djambo (209-1992, college: Hofstra) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Guinean forward Abdoulaye Sy (201-1995) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Lorient players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was British guard Benjamin Mockford (188-1989, college: SFC, agency: Wasserman) who recorded 16 points and guard Theo Rey (194-2000) added 7 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lorient will meet Mulhouse (#4) on the road in the next round. Lyon will play against Poitiers and hope to secure a win.
