Regular Season Round 26: Hamar - Hottur 63-98

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hamar (4-22) was crushed at home by second ranked Hottur (22-4) 98-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. Hamar managed to win second period 17-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hottur had a 41-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) had a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Spanish forward David Guardia (200-1990) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Coach Einar Johannsson's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Dadi Gretarsson (185-1991) responded with 7 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Alfonso Soruson (198-2000) scored 17 points. Hottur maintains second position with 22-4 record having just two points less than leader Haukar. Hamar lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 22 games lost. Hottur will meet league's leader Haukar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hamar will play against Hrunamenn (#7) in Fludir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
