Regular Season Round 24: Akademik P. - Shumen 79-66

There was no surprise in Plovdiv where 9th ranked Shumen (3-18) was defeated by seventh ranked Akademik P. (8-12) 79-66. Akademik P. forced 22 Shumen turnovers. It was a good game for Tomislav Minkov (196-2001) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Nikolay Nikolov (196-1994) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Akademik P.'s coach Jordan Yankov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-1990) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Georgi Kenderov (200-1999) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Shumen. Five Akademik P. and four Shumen players scored in double figures. Akademik P. maintains seventh position with 8-12 record. Newly promoted Shumen keeps the ninth place with 18 games lost. Akademik P. will play against league's second-placed Balkan in Botevgrad in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Shumen will play at home against Levski (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
