Regular Season Round 25: Lille - Nantes 85-87

A very close game took place in Lille between Nantes and Lille Metropole. Seventeenth ranked Nantes (10-14) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Lille Metropole (12-13). Nantes managed to escape with a 2-point win 87-85 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lille Metropole. They outrebounded Lille Metropole 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-1986, college: Mercyhurst) nailed 29 points for the winning side and the former international Garry Chathuant (195-1983) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Raijon Kelly (193-1993, college: Angelo St.) came up with 19 points and 6 assists and American-Nigerian forward Christian Nwogbo (200-1991, college: Cedarville) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Lille Metropole in the defeat. Four Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nantes moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Denain and Quimper. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Aix-Maurienne and Saint Vallier. Nantes will meet at home higher ranked ADA Blois (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lille Metropole will play against ASA (#16) in Gries and hope to secure a win.
