Regular Season Round 28: Voluntari - Ploiesti CSM 81-69

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Ploiesti CSM (11-12) was defeated on the road by second ranked Voluntari (20-3) 81-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-69. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-1989) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international Vlad Moldoveanu (206-1988, college: American) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Deion Hammond (193, college: Monmouth) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Montenegrin center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-1991) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Ploiesti CSM players scored in double figures. Voluntari maintains second position with 20-3 record having just two points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Newly promoted Ploiesti CSM keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Voluntari will meet at home league's leader Cluj Napoca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ploiesti CSM will play against Oradea (#5) and hope to secure a win.
