There was no surprise when 12th ranked Crema (8-17) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Desio (13-12) 79-64 on Wednesday. Point guard Mattia Molteni (191-1996) stepped up and scored 18 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and naturalized Albanian forward Nikola Ivanaj (197-2000) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. At the losing side forward Salvatore Genovese (200-1987, agency: Interperformances) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and guard Stefano Cernivani (185-1991) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Desio maintains sixth place in B with 13-12 record, which they share with Vicenza and Fiorenzuola. Crema lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Bologna Basket and Olginate. Desio will meet Vicenza (#8) on the road in the next round. Crema will play against Padova V. (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
