Regular Season Round 25: Broni - Venezia 53-72

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Broni (6-18) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Venezia (17-2) 72-53 on Wednesday. Venezia forced 22 Broni turnovers. American forward Kayla Thornton (185-1992, college: UTEP) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and Senegalese-Spanish center Astou Ndour (198-1994) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach Massimo Romano used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Dutch forward Laura Westerik (176-1998) responded with 17 points and Croatian center Nina Dedic (187-1996) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Venezia have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Loser Broni keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Venezia will meet Moncalieri (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Broni will play against Costa Masnaga and hope to secure a win.
