Regular Season Round 24: Split - Mega BG 81-80

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Serbian Mega BG (8-15) was edged on the road by thirteenth ranked Croatian Split (6-17) 81-80 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was guard Toni Perkovic (191-1998) who scored 21 points. American Shannon Shorter (193-1989, college: N.Texas) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nikola Jovic (208-2003, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Borisa Simanic (210-1998, agency: BeoBasket) added 30 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively. Mega BG's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Split have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain thirteenth position with 6-17 record. Mega BG lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Split will meet higher ranked FMP BG (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mega BG will play against Zadar (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
