Regular Season Round 27: Valencia - Tenerife 92-88
Date: April 1, 2022
Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Valencia (17-8) beat at home 6th ranked Tenerife (16-10) 92-88 on Friday. Valencia made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a great evening for Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-1994, college: LIU Brooklyn) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). International Xabier Lopez-Arostegui (200-1997) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-1983) with 13 points and 4 assists and Bosnian-Finnish power forward Emir Sulejmanovic (205-1995) scored 12 points. Five Tenerife players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Manresa. Loser Tenerife keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Valencia will meet Bilbao (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tenerife will play against Breogan (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
